Interview Update
Well. I went to Edgewood to interview this morning at 9am. Had to wait for the principal for an hour b/c his meeting with the superintendent was running late. He and I then talked for over an hour (with two interruptions). I really enjoyed talking to him. I thought that everything went really well. Maybe could have done a bit better, but I had to be myself or I would have been very nervous.
Got home. Mari was just happy as can be when I told him about it. It's nice to know that my husband supports me so much and has such confidence in me. ^_^
However, around 2:30 today I received a phone call. Luckily, I was getting my hair cut, so I didn't know it rang. The principal called saying that he was going to recommend another canidate to the school board, and he would let me know if anything changed. *sigh*
So now I'm left wondering what I didn't do right, what I didn't say right. Was I too something? Was I not something enough? If so, what?? And finally: what did the other person have that I didn't? I'm invested in the community, I'm passionate about my subject matter, I love what I do, and I know the area and this school already. What do I need to do to get a job??

Have you considered asking the principal how you can improve your interview techniques, or something like that? It might be unprofessional, but if you try to go at it in a "give me constructive criticism" kind of way, it might get you some decent feedback.
Basically, though, from my experience, limited as it may be, is that you just have to hit on a certain buzzword or that specific trait that that specific principal really wants. In that sense, it's kind of a crapshoot, and it may take numerous interviews before you get the job. It took me like 6 or so interviews before I got the job, including one I thought I would get for sure, without a doubt, at my old HS. Don't get frustrated!
Thanks, Shawn. I appreciate it. :) The thing is, I thought for sure that our philosophies and goals met perfectly. I was really feeling good about the interview. My impression all around was that he really thought I was a good canidate, especially when he asked for my Praxis scores (which was a new request and not on the school's list of things to bring). I thought maybe he wanted to get to know more about me before making his final decision.
I guess the fact that I'm two years out of college and three interviewing I would get something other than a maternity leave. *sigh* (Well, at least I know from that I'm not totally undesirable!)
