Finally...
It snowed!Yesterday there was defnately what I would actually call snow coming down from heaven. It was very pretty. Sadly, for all the effort given, very little actually stuck. What did stick seems determined to stay. There was bits left around on the ground and on the rooftops this morning. Not sure if the sun's gotten to them yet, but I'm sure it won't take long. Our "cold spell" will be well done with by Friday. Will we ever have a proper Hoosier winter?? I'm still waiting, I guess. I'd hoped it'd snow while the square lights were all lit, but that time of the year came & went. Very sad. :(
Anyway, thought I'd share a picture I took yesterday morning (in our backyard!) while the event was still going strong.
Like I said, it's not much, especially when considered with some of the weather elsewhere in the country right now. While I definately feel entitled to my share of winter, I'm not envious of all the hazards caused by the ice and feet of snow in other states. I just find I'm asking myself this question more and more recently: will I ever experience another winter here where I can go sliding around on a frozen pond like I could when I was a kid? We've not had a hard enough freeze to do that in over 10 years. I know most of you would call me young, but I still think that's a long time!!
Well, there's still 2 months of winter to come. Here's hoping! ^.^

remember riding the horses bareback in the snow?? :) the snow would muffle the sound of their hooves. their backs were warm to sit on! ahhh... any temp above 10F was warm enough to be out in!

i think it might be habitually worse (i.e., warmer) here. we might have to look at weather.com to see who's winning! but it's generally pretty mild here anyway during the winter, i'm told.
